This is one of the most breathtakingly gorgeous fisheye pieces of sea glass I have ever seen! Fisheyes as they are called in England where they originate, are pieces of glass that were used at the end of a pontil rod for glass blowing. In most cases the glass was usually white or clear because clear glass was the most cost efficient. Colors of glass would be added in layers to the clear glass and shaped and twisted until the final product was complete. At that time the glass at the end of the pontil rod would get tapped off and discarded. In this case (lucky for us) the glass got discarded into the ocean and this remarkable piece of sea glass was formed! Anther great aspect of this piece of glass is that not only is it a fisheye but a rare fisheye at that! Instead of being made with a base color of white glass, this extraordinary piece has a rich base color of cornflower blue. They layers of colors that they added on are visible in the layered spot at the bottom of the glass. Starting on the outside edge are bright shades of aqua, cornflower, cobalt and even a tint of purple! When the ring is worn as pictured here with the spot towards the bottom, the light can reflect through the ring and really show off all the colors and patterns in the glass. If you flip the ring so that the spot is towards the top, you get a whole different look! Like that, the light reflects through the spot (making the spot almost invisible) and illuminating a glow of blues and purples through out the ring. The domed, "egg" like shape to this piece along with it's perfect overall smoothness gives this piece of glass a gem like look. It is double bezel set in sterling silver with a thick hammered silver band. The shimmer of the hammered band really compliments the glow of colors in this ring. The inside of the band is stamped with "Lita" and "925" (the code for sterling silver) to show this is an authentic Lita Sea Glass design! This would make an amazing gift for any true beach lover or sea glass collector. REMEMBER - This is the EXACT piece you will receive! SOLD OUT
